BJP MPs Injured In Parliament Scuffle Allegations Against Rahul Gandhi

Chaos erupted in the Parliament premises on Thursday as protests from both the ruling and opposition parties escalated. The uproar stemmed from Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. While opposition MPs staged protests condemning the remarks, ruling party MPs countered by accusing Congress of disrespecting Ambedkar. Amid the heightened tensions, two BJP MPs were seriously injured, and the party alleged that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was responsible.

Incident Overview

Opposition India Alliance MPs scaled the Makardwaram wall in Parliament to carry placards as a protest. Meanwhile, NDA Alliance MPs reached the spot. As per BJP leaders, opposition MPs prevented them from entering which caused a scuffle. During the scuffle, BJP MPs Mukesh Rajput and Pratap Chandra Sarangi were injured. Both were taken to hospital immediately for treatment.

Medical Updates

  • Mukesh Rajput: He is currently in the ICU as he lost consciousness during the incident. Doctors have confirmed that his condition has stabilized after treatment.
  • Pratap Chandra Sarangi: He suffered a severe head injury with heavy bleeding. Doctors stitched him up and said Sarangi is recovering.

Union ministers, TDP MP Kalishetty Appalanaidu, and others visited the injured MPs in the hospital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also called to check on their health.

Allegations Against Rahul Gandhi

During the transfer to hospital, MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi accused media:

"While I was standing on the stairs, Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP. He fell on me, causing me to fall and sustain injuries."

BJP apparently intends to file complaint at the police regarding Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi Responds

Rahul Gandhi is a Congress Member of Parliament and the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha and he denied allegations on Wednesday saying:

"Your cameras might have captured everything. While I was entering Parliament, BJP MPs tried to block my way, pushed me, and threatened me. They even pushed Mallikarjun Kharge. Our right to access Parliament is being obstructed. The real issue here is their attack on the Constitution and insult to Ambedkar."

The Congress party put up a video of the incident on the platform 'X' (formerly Twitter) in which it blamed BJP MPs for obstructing their movement.

Kharge’s Statement

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also accused them of ill-treatment as he said that he injured his knee as BJP MPs were pushing him. He has written a letter to Speaker Om Birla to get an inquiry into the ruckus. He underlined the need for accountability after such incidents.

Parliament Disrupted

Following these events, both Houses of Parliament were adjourned until noon. The incident has further deepened the rift between the ruling and opposition parties, with calls for an independent inquiry.
