Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has accused the previous state government of misusing Rs. 4,000 crores sanctioned under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Speaking at a state-level workshop organized by the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department in Vijayawada, Pawan Kalyan accused the previous administration of getting infrastructure projects underway without proper planning. He alleged that water supply pipelines were laid without deciding on a reliable source of water.
After taking charge, Pawan Kalyan said that his government has approached the Centre for funds. He further said that a demand of Rs. 70,000 crores was presented to the Union Government, and Union Minister CR Patil was informed about all the requirements. The Deputy CM added that his team is working on preparing a Detailed Project Report by the end of January, which will be presented to the Jal Shakti Minister.
It is an important mission to ensure water supply in the state. The Jal Jeevan Mission is the foundation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for providing every individual with an average of 55 liters of clean water per day. The goal of this initiative is to provide sustainable and continuous water supply to all households," he said.
