Rayudu Criticizes CSK’s Death Overs Strategy
- Former crickater Ambati Rayudu blamed poor bowling performance for Chennai Super Kings' loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He pointed out that the team conceded 78 runs in the final four overs which shifted the match in RCB's favor.
- CSK achieved 207 runs while chasing a target of 251 runs. Rayudu explained that the team produced unclear and ineffective bowling strategies for their death over pitching.
He explained that such strategies would not align with MS Dhonis approach. According to Rayudu:
- Dhoni prefers simple and proven bowling methods
- Batters can easily counter complex or experimental tactics
- Bowlers should focus on execution rather than variation overload
Rayudu emphasized the importance of specific deliveries in death overs:
- Yorkers aimed at the base of the stumps
- Slower balls with constant length
Fleming declared that CSK should change their current bowling strategies and return to conventional methods which depend on maintaining precise control.
Fleming Highlights Tim David’s Impact
CSK head coach Stephen Fleming said Tim David's innings made a decisive impact on the match. David scored 70 runs from 25 balls which increased the pressure on CSK.
Fleming explained that the match remained balanced until the final overs. He observed that
- A target of 210–220 runs seemed manageable on that pitch
- David's aggressive batting pushed the total beyond 250 runs
- The final overs shifted momentum completely toward RCB
He also mentioned that CSK's middle-order batters made a strong effort during the chase.
Fleming Backs Sanju Samson
Fleming expressed confidence in Sanju Samson's ability despite recent results. He said that adapting to a new franchise can take time especially in T20 cricket where matches move quickly.
He referred to Samson’s performance in the T20 World Cup as evidence of his skill and consistency. Fleming added that:
- Samson has strong batting ability
- He has already proven his performance at the international level
- He is expected to deliver impactful innings soon
