Special Assembly Session and Resolution Introduction
- The State Legislative Assembly conducted a special session on Saturday. The session aimed to pass a resolution which would give Amaravati legal recognition as the capital city.
- The Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu presented the resolution to the assembly at the beginning of the session. The government will forward the approved resolution to the Central Government for their official process.
Speaker’s Statement on Capital Policy
During the session Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu the Assembly Speaker delivered his address. He declared that the Chief Minister maintains his dedication to constructing a permanent capital for Andhra Pradesh.
He also stressed an important point:
- Policy decisions should remain stable
- Government changes should not alter long-term plans
- Minister Narayana on Amaravati Development
P. Narayana discussed the historical development of Amaravati
He explained that after state bifurcation Andhra Pradesh lost its capital city. He also referred to the land pooling process:
- On January 1 2015 the government introduced the Land Pooling Scheme
- By February 2015 approximately 29000 farmers joined the program
- Farmers provided approximately 34400 acres of land
He stated that farmers supported the project despite criticism from YSR Congress Party leaders. According to him the farmers maintained their decision.
