Rohit Sharma Wins Impact Player Of The Series Award

India Clinches 2–1 ODI Series Against Australia

India and Australia's three-match ODI series came to an end, with India winning 2–1. Viewers were delighted to see Indian legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli regain their golden years. Rohit scored a century and a half-century, and Virat contributed a half-century to his tally. Following the series, Indian team management conferred the 'Impact Player of the Series' award on Rohit Sharma.

Gambhir Hails Rohit's Performance

  • Rohit was rewarded after being rewarded Player of the Match and Player of the Series for his century in the third ODI. BCCI posted a video on its website in which Gautam Gambhir praises Rohit's performance.
  • Gambhir highlighted the importance of Rohit's first-wicket partnership with Shubman Gill. He mentioned that Rohit and Virat played purposefully, and the fact that Rohit batted throughout was the secret for India's win. He also mentioned the fine bowling performance by India, terming the manner in which bowlers closed shop after Australia added 63 runs without losing a wicket in the first 10 overs.
  • Gambhir specifically praised Harshit Rana for his excellent bowling spell and encouraged him to keep working hard so that he can be consistent. Rohit received the award from conditioning coach Adrian Le Roux.

Rohit Sharma Looks Back on His Practice

  • Rohit was happy with the result and his personal form. "I have never trained as hard for a series since I have been around. I trained for four to five months before this ODI series against Australia. I wanted to put that practice to good use and play as per my nature," he said.
  • He also added that he had wished to focus on contributing more to the team in the second half of his career, for which he needed to prepare more. "The payoff from all that effort was realized in this series," he added. Rohit also said he had enjoyed playing in Australia and felt the energetic local fans.
  • Rohit said it was a pleasure to form a long-standing partnership with Virat Kohli. After Gill got out and Shreyas Iyer got injured, Rohit and Virat considered finishing the match without losing more wickets. "The support of fans in Australia was immense. Plenty of fans came to watch us play," he said.
