Special Assembly Session on March 28
- The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly will hold a special session on March 28. The session will focus on granting statutory status to Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
- The state government plans to pass a formal resolution during this session. The resolution will request Central Government approval to establish Amaravati as the official capital through legal amendments. The State Cabinet must first approve the proposal before it can proceed.
- The Assembly will send the resolution to the Ministry of Home Affairs India after its passage.
Amendment to the State Reorganization Act
- The Central Government is preparing to amend the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. This amendment will establish legal authority for Amaravati to function as the capital city.
- The Centre required the State Government to provide all official documents that supported the capital decision. The documents that were submitted did not conform to the necessary requirements. The Prime Minister's Office India recommended to the state that it should create a new resolution for Assembly approval after examining the situation.
- The state government followed the recommendation and scheduled a special session for immediate execution.

- Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu requested support from the Central Government. He talked about the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
- The Central Government started to develop a legislative proposal for Parliament that would be introduced during the ongoing budget session after the discussions.
Aim to Ensure Permanent Capital Status
The State Government aims to establish Amaravati as the permanent capital city. The legal amendment will be created to stop any future modifications.

In 2016 administrative work began in Amaravati yet the city lacked proper legal recognition as the capital.

- On April 23 2015 the Municipal Administration Department published an official announcement. Amaravati received confirmation through this announcement that it would serve as the capital city of Andhra Pradesh.

- Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu cancelled his Vadarevu visit because of the special Assembly session. The session took place on the same day that he planned to visit.
