Chandrababu Naidu on Amaravati’s Future

  • N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, stated that Amaravati will be developed to surpass Hyderabad. He said the city will become a Smart City using advanced technology.
  • He also expressed concern that Amaravati did not receive attention during the previous administration led by the YSR Congress Party. He stressed the need to restart and boost development activities throughout the area.
  • Naidu delivered his speech at the South Asia Learning Summit which took place at the Indian School of Business located in Gachibowli. The event focused on the use and expansion of artificial intelligence.

He described the technological development timeline which extended from:

  • Internet access started after 1990 
  • The knowledge economy expanded after 1995 
  • The IT sector started to develop through time 

Efforts to Build Hyderabad as an IT Hub

  • Naidu described his earlier efforts to attract global IT companies to Hyderabad.
  • He mentioned his meeting with Bill Gates, where he requested investment in India. He highlighted the strengths of Indian professionals in mathematics and English.

Key initiatives during that period included:

  • Promotion of IT investments in Hyderabad 
  • Efforts to bring global companies despite initial hesitation 
  • Establishment of major institutions such as NALSAR University of Law and International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad

He also noted infrastructure development:

  • Land allocation for Rajiv Gandhi International Airport 
  • Improvement in drinking water supply from the Krishna River instead of relying only on the Manjeera River

Between 1999 and 2004, Hyderabad experienced fast growth which included building Genome Valley.

Political Phases and Development Progress

  • Naidu explained that his government lost control of power in 2004 and returned after a ten-year period. The government of Andhra Pradesh executed multiple development projects between the years 2014 and 2019.
  • He stated that development progress stopped during the period From 2019 until 2024. The government dedicated its time to both development work and welfare projects after it regained power in 2024.

Focus on Technology and Emerging Sectors

Naidu declared his early dedication to information technology when he identified its future potential which he discovered 30 years ago.

He identified existing and future sectors:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Data centers
  • Quantum computing
  • Space technology

He identified expanding uses of:

  • Drones
  • Air ambulances
  • Drone use in defense and warfare Energy and Sustainability Initiatives
  • Naidu declared that the state achieved a transition from experiencing power shortages to generating excess electrical capacity.

He showed current work to develop renewable energy resources through these three sources:

  • Solar power
  • Wind energy
  • Green energy projects

He stated that Andhra Pradesh maintains its status as the foremost developer of green energy resources in South India.
