Andhra Pradesh Expands Defense Drone And Gold Production Sectors

Andhra Pradesh is upping its emphasis on defense making, drone know how , mining, and industrial momentum. A bunch of major initiatives were announced at a public programme in Puttaparthi, Satya Sai district, with Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu showing up for the foundation stone part, for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project, basically the big one.

The state government claimed these efforts will reinforce Rayalaseema’s economy and open fresh job chances across several lines of work.

Foundation Stone Laid for AMCA Project in Puttaparthi

Now, the AMCA project itself is planned on about 650 acres in Puttaparthi. It’s tied into India’s broader defense manufacturing push, and the intent is to support homegrown aircraft development, not just assembly.

At the event, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said Puttaparthi is likely to turn into a key defense manufacturing hub. He also mentioned the town’s long link with Sri Sathya Sai Baba, and how his message was about peace. like, straight up.

Union Minister Rajnath Singh attended along with multiple state ministers and other public representatives, and yes it was a full stage presence type of thing.

Puttaparthi Emerges as a Defense Manufacturing Center

The Andhra Pradesh government added that it is trying to pull investments into defense and aerospace fields. As Chandrababu Naidu described, these projects should boost industrial progress in Rayalaseema.

He said the area, once known for diamonds and mineral riches, is moving toward a new industrial chapter. The government’s view is that defence related work can lift local infrastructure, employment, and even private investment, in a steadier way.

The Chief Minister also brought up “Operation Sindoor” and said the recent defense developments have become a reason for national pride, and it feels kind of personal, right.

Kurnool, somehow positioned as a major drone hub

The government announced that Kurnool will develop as a drone manufacturing plus technology center under the “Drone City” initiative, in a way that, you know, sounds quite ambitious. Eight companies are expected to come on board for the project with a total investment of ₹686 crore. Officials said the initiative could generate roughly 2,500 jobs , as if that number is already settled.

Rajnath Singh noted that drone technology now plays a major role in defense operations. He also pointed out, with more or less confidence, its growing use in agriculture and commercial sectors.

HFCL is expected to invest ₹1,294 crore in drone-related development activities that are connected to the same initiative.

As per the Union Minister, Kurnool is likely to become widely known, like a real drone hub, in the coming years.

Rayalaseema development, and water management efforts, with old issues

Chandrababu Naidu talked about the historical challenges faced by Rayalaseema, especially water scarcity in districts such as Anantapur. He credited former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao for kicking off irrigation and water development efforts in the region , and said it was a start that mattered.

He also said the current government is continuing and completing several projects that were started during that period.

The Chief Minister added that better water management has helped change agricultural and economic conditions across Rayalaseema.

He further mentioned that support from the Central Government is expected to speed up development in the region.

Kadapa steel plant project moves ahead

The Andhra Pradesh government said work on the Kadapa Steel Plant will begin in June.

According to Chandrababu Naidu, construction is expected to wrap up by 2028. The project is being presented as a big industrial investment, mostly for Rayalaseema.

The government believes the steel plant will help with job creation and also raise industrial activity, over time, in the region.

Andhra Pradesh Plans Big Push for More Gold Output

The Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh is prepping to boost gold production via the Jonnagiri Gold Field project, and well yes it’s meant to scale up.

He added that the mine is likely to yield roughly 600 kilograms of gold this year, while the goal for next year jumps to 1,500 kilograms.

Naidu compared the project with the famous Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) and said Andhra Pradesh could come up as a major gold production hub in India, not just a small player.

As per the state government, mining projects like Jonnagiri can back local employment and also help industrial momentum in the region.

India’s Drive Toward Defense Self-Reliance

Rajnath Singh said India is moving toward stronger self-reliance in defense manufacturing through links between public sector and private sector companies.

He also mentioned that earlier India relied a lot on imports for defense equipment. In his view, domestic manufacturing capacity has risen noticeably over the last decade.

The Union Minister said India’s defense production value increased from nearly ₹46,000 crore in 2004 to about ₹1.75 lakh crore today.

He called this progress a key move for better national security and for lowering reliance on foreign suppliers, step by step.

Several state ministers, including Lokesh Anagani Satya Prasad, T.G. Bharath, and Satyakumar Yadav also attended the event.
