Discussion in the Legislative Assembly
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu delivered an address to the Legislative Assembly about investment activities and infrastructure projects and employment generation. He said that multiple businesses departed from Andhra Pradesh during the time when YSRCP governed the state. He reported that companies including Jackie and Lulu and Amara Raja and Franklin Templeton and other companies departed from Andhra Pradesh during that time frame.
Concerns About Employment in the Previous Government
- The Chief Minister stated that the previous government failed to execute any DSC recruitment process during its five-year tenure. The result of this situation caused many young people to seek employment opportunities in nearby states. He also mentioned that the previous government failed to offer sufficient skill development programs which would benefit young people.
- Chandrababu said his government promised before the elections to provide jobs to 20 lakh young people. He mentioned that a committee already exists to achieve this objective.
Focus on Ease and Speed of Doing Business
- The Chief Minister explained that Andhra Pradesh functioned as a model state for business operations before. The government currently aims to expedite investment approval processes. He defined the state as progressing toward the implementation of a business operating system which emphasizes rapid assessment.
- The government has established 26 policies to establish backing for investment activities. The policies work to achieve quick project clearances while supporting the establishment of new businesses. The government granted industrial status to the tourism sector to foster development within that industry.
- The government is constructing industrial parks across all 175 constituencies throughout the state. The government has already distributed industrial incentives which total to ₹210 crore.
Investments from the Visakhapatnam Summit
- Visakhapatnam Summit brought investment opportunities for businesses which attract new funding.
- Chandrababu said the recent investment summit in Visakhapatnam brought proposals worth ₹13.25 lakh crore. The project will result in 16 lakh employment opportunities which will begin after completion of the project.
He also provided details about current employment generation:
- The micro small medium enterprise sector created 248000 job positions.
- The skill development programs created 146000 job positions.
- Ninety-five thousand employment opportunities exist in various industrial sectors.
- The food processing industry has created 64000 employment opportunities.
Government Recruitment and Total Jobs Created
- The Chief Minister said government recruitment drives such as Mega DSC and police constable appointments have provided jobs to about 30,500 people.
- Through various programs he reported that 628000 job positions have been established so far.
Plans for Regional Development
- Chandrababu said the government is working on balanced development across the state. The government currently develops essential economic zones throughout Visakhapatnam Amaravati and Tirupati.
- He added that the government aims to strengthen the state economy in the coming years. The plan projects Andhra Pradesh to achieve a 2.4 trillion-dollar economy status by 2047.
