The Prime Minister receives an invitation from the government of Andhra Pradesh to perform the inaugural ceremony of Bhogapuram Airport which is located in Vizianagaram district. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu sent a formal request for this event.
The officials suggested two dates to hold the event on July 5 or July 8 and August 17 or August 19. The state government asked GMR Group to speed up construction work. The Central government has directed that all work should finish by June 30.
Progress on Infrastructure Projects
The officials have confirmed that the alignment for the flyover at Anandapuram Junction has reached its final stage. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this flyover should be ready within 45 days.

The proposal seeks to establish a double-decker Metro corridor which will link Visakhapatnam with Bhogapuram Airport. RITES prepared and updated the DPR for this Metro project. The proposal has been submitted to the Central government. Road Connectivity and Clearances
The state government submitted proposals to the Central government to obtain required clearances. The approvals from Defence department and Forest department and Wildlife authorities form part of these requests.
Officials selected Beach Road as the starting point to connect with National Highway 16. The team has started working to create the DPR for this road project.
Immigration Facility and Strategic Importance
The state government requested faster approval for “Immigration Status.” The airport needs this approval to establish an immigration check-post at the airport.
Officials state that Bhogapuram Airport will act as a key aviation gateway for North Andhra.
