Project Approval and Cost Details

  • Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman approved a new infrastructure project in Amaravati. The project includes a Central Government Secretariat and a residential complex for employees. The total cost of the project is ₹2,534 crores.

  • Employees’ Housing Complex
  • Area: 17 acres
  • Cost: ₹1,234.91 crores

Both facilities will be constructed inside the Amaravati capital region.

Purpose of the Project

  • The Secretariat will function as the base for Central Government offices that serve Andhra Pradesh. The housing complex will provide accommodation for government employees working in these offices.
  • The capital area system exists to enhance administrative functions while providing staff members with required living space.

The Andhra Pradesh government completed key administrative steps related to Amaravati’s capital status.
