The Andhra Pradesh government kicked off fuel saving and cost cutting actions after Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked people to reduce nonessential fuel use, during the ongoing worldwide energy crisis. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Minister Lokesh also quietly trimmed down the size of their official convoy, after the Prime Minister’s request.
This move is supposed to push responsible fuel consumption habits, so it can also reduce government expenditure. Not only that, the idea is to keep things practical and visible.
Prime Minister Modi recently encouraged citizens across India to build fuel saving routines. In response, the Andhra Pradesh leadership decided to mirror similar administrative steps, across the state.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu told ministers and senior officials to limit official car use wherever it can be done. The government then started assessing which areas may bring real budget reductions without disrupting key work.
Officials said they want an evidence based approach, one that shows outcomes through actual implementation, instead of just public statements.
Chandrababu Naidu cut his convoy from 11 vehicles to just 4 official vehicles. He used the smaller convoy to reach the Secretariat on Thursday morning.
The arrangement involved two NSG security vehicles, along with one escort vehicle. Together they supported protection and helped manage traffic flow.
The reduction is part of a broader plan, designed to lower fuel consumption while still keeping essential security arrangements intact.
Minister Lokesh reduced his official convoy from four vehicles to just two, you know, so the whole thing is smaller. A separate minivan was also arranged for his security staff, in a way that fewer vehicles would end up being used across the board, not only for the main movement.
These changes are meant to back the governments message on disciplined fuel consumption and smoother administrative efficiency, sort of, like they said.
Other ministers in the Andhra Pradesh cabinet have started to apply similar restrictions on how vehicles are used too.
Per government directives, ministers and VIPs were asked to take the minimum number of vehicles needed for official travel. Departments were also told to trim unnecessary operational expenses, in plain terms.
Officials said the state wants every level of administration to follow the same standards, without exceptions.
The state government has started a review process to find more austerity measures, which could be introduced in the coming weeks.
A bigger policy call on these cost controls is expected during the cabinet meeting scheduled for Thursday. After that meeting, Chandrababu Naidu is likely to announce what comes next.
Meanwhile, the administration is looking at ways to reduce costs while keeping normal government operations running.
The Andhra Pradesh leadership stated that careful fuel use is necessary during a time of rising global energy concerns.
Chandrababu Naidu urged officials and public representatives to make decisions that back the national interest. The government believes that cutting down on unnecessary vehicle usage can reduce fuel consumption and also show administrative discipline, pretty clearly.
The move by Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Lokesh is being presented as part of a larger effort to encourage efficient governance and responsible resource management.
