Top government official N. Chandrababu Naidu instructed officials to supply essential items to cyclone-affected citizens. He held a teleconference with ministers, district collectors, and high-ranking officials to review the situation. He instructed them to complete cyclone damage assessment in a short period and take necessary action in inundated areas.
CM Chandrababu said the government acted early and in time in mitigating the effect of the cyclone. He added that the Chief Minister's Office to the Secretariat, there was one team effort undertaken by everyone. He expressed his gratitude to the people who helped victims during the crisis.
He said that if this type of effort is continued for the next two days, relief operations will be all the more successful. Ministers and officials were asked to visit affected areas, review government action, and mark those areas where difficulties still exist. Damage reports from various departments will be submitted and passed on to the central government.
The Chief Minister stated that although the cyclone itself was not preventable, pre-emptive measures prevented maximum losses. Real-time information was given by Collectors and ground-level officials. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police, and fire brigade worked round-the-clock to cut fallen trees and repair power lines.
Local authorities cleared drainage networks beforehand, preventing heavy flooding. About 10,000 workers were mobilized to repair damaged power infrastructure. CM Naidu added that the situation would become normal in the afternoon.
He grieved over the loss of two lives killed during the storm. He asserted that when the government moves fast, people are safeguarded and have faith in its actions. According to him, the effective coordination between departments has boosted public trust in the administration.
