The Andhra Pradesh government has finalised plans to open its food canteens on eve of Independence Day. The state prepares a sumptuous meal for 5 persons. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the canteens at Gudivada in Krishna district. The remaining 99 canteens will be opened by ministers, MLAs, MPs and other public representatives in their respective constituencies on this 16th day. The Hare Krishna Movement has emerged successful in the tender to produce and supply food items. A total of 180 canteens out of 203 canteens in the state are now ready. Initially, it will provide food in 100 canteens. The rest are expected to begin by the end of this month or September 5.
The government has also released the menu for the canteens. The cafeteria serves lunch, dinner, and breakfast. The canteens are going to run on all the days except Sunday as it has been declared a holiday. It is likely to be Rs. 5 per meal for two persons. The timings of the canteens are being fixed separately for different days. From 7.30 a.m. to 10 p.m. breakfast is going to be served. Lunch is going to be served from 12.30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner is going to be served from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. If you take a glance at the menu, you will certainly spot it. This is what is served in the morning-that is idli or puri-3, or upma, pongal (250 grams), and white rice (400 grams)-and for this, 15 grams of chutney or powder, 150 grams of sambar, and 25 grams of mixture are added. Lunch consists of 100 grams of curry, 120 grams of dal or sambar, and 75 grams of curd along with rice.
This time, there is fierce aggression in the implementation of schemes under the AP coalition government. Anna canteens were operationalized within two months of power. The minister announced that these canteens will continue to run till the elections. He said the poorest of all categories can eat here everyday except Sunday. All these canteens will be very useful for roadside beggars. The coalition government has made it possible for anyone to have a good meal in these canteens.
