Expansion Of PrePrimary Education In Government Schools
  • The government wants to increase preschool programs throughout the entire state starting from the 2026–27 academic year. The plan will establish UKG classes at more than 3000 new government educational institutions.
  • The current academic year opened UKG classes at 1000 educational facilities. The government budget presented this year plans to expand operations at between 2000 and 2500 schools. The School Education Department announced its new target which requires 2700 to 3000 primary schools to achieve their goals.

The department has directed District Educational Officers (DEOs) to:

  • Identify schools that need pre-primary facilities
  • Prepare and submit a detailed list

This expansion may create around 6,000 temporary jobs.

Objective and Current Status

The main goal is to provide pre-primary education in one school per Gram Panchayat. The state has about 12,700 Gram Panchayats.

At present, pre-primary classes operate in 1,362 schools. These schools already have:

  • Aayas (caregivers)
  • Instructors

Monthly honorarium details:

  • Aaya: ₹6,000
  • Instructor: ₹8,000

The Samagra Shiksha project provides funding for this program.

There is also increasing demand to add:

  • Nursery classes
  • LKG classes

The step will establish a school structure that matches private institutions while providing better access to early educational programs.

Expansion in Urban Regions

The government will also extend pre-primary education to the Hyderabad Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) area.

The authorities have sanctioned educational facilities which provide:

  • Pre-primary level
  • Up to intermediate level

The facilities will operate across 28 different sites throughout the Outer Ring Road (ORR) territory. A Government Order has already been issued for this plan.
