Google Data Center Project In Visakhapatnam

Groundbreaking Ceremony Details

  • Google will hold the groundbreaking ceremony for its new data center construction project which is located in Visakhapatnam on the 28th of this month. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will lead the event.
  • Google will send its high-ranking officials to the ceremony. This group includes Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian and other company leaders.

Google plans to construct three data centers in the area. Each center will have a capacity of one gigawatt (1,000 megawatts). The locations include:

  • Adavivaram in Visakhapatnam district
  • Tharluvada in Visakhapatnam district
  • Rambilli in Anakapalli district

The company aims to finish all construction work and begin operational activities by July 2028.

Google will invest ₹1.35 lakh crore in this project. This amount represents the largest foreign direct investment received in India to date.

Development Agreement and Land Allocation

  • The State Government and Google signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 14 of last year. The agreement establishes support for the development of the data center project.
  • The government has earmarked 601.40 acres of land for the project. The government transferred this land to Google’s subsidiary Ryden Infotech India Private Limited.
  • The company requested that APIIC handle the process of acquiring land. After acquisition, the land will be handed over to Adani Infra (India) Private Limited which acts as the primary partner for the project.
  • After the initial development stage ends Ryden Infotech will control all land transfers between project entities which will occur according to their operational requirements.
  • The company submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the government on August 22, 2025.

Asia’s Largest Data Center Cluster

The construction of three data centers in Visakhapatnam will establish the city as the biggest data center collection in all of Asia.

The local area will gain improved digital infrastructure capacity because of this advancement. 

Infrastructure and Technical Standards

  • The project will include essential infrastructure components that support extensive data processing requirements.
  • The project will include submarine communication cables and high-capacity cable landing stations and metro fiber connectivity and advanced telecommunications systems.
  • All physical structures will follow global construction standards.
  • The DPR indicates that the data centers will function at the same capacity as Google major services which include Google Search Google YouTube Google Workspace and Google Workspace.

Project Partners and SPVs

Adani Infra Limited established three Special Purpose Vehicles SPVs to assist with project execution.

Ryden Infotech has identified the following organizations as key partners:

  • Adani Infra India Private Limited
  • AdaniConneX India Private Limited
  • Adani Power India Private Limited
  • Bharti Airtel Limited
  • Nxtra Data Limited
  • Nxtra Vizag Limited

Nxtra Data Limited and Nxtra Vizag Limited operate as subsidiaries of Bharti Airtel.

The project will receive support through these partnerships which will provide infrastructure development services and power supply services and data connectivity services.
