Government Claims No Job Loss In Plan To Create 20 Lakh Jobs In Five Years
  • The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh addressed the Assembly to discuss employment opportunities and development projects. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that the government will maintain all current employment positions while adding 2000000 new jobs during the upcoming five-year period. He asserted that the previous YSRCP government failed to conduct any direct recruitment tests throughout its complete five-year duration.
  • The Chief Minister announced that the current alliance government has established 628327 new positions during its initial 20 months of governing. He described how the government attempts to bring back the state's former glory which he claimed was damaged during the prior administration. He stated that the state is now working to establish itself as a territory that welcomes investment.
  • Naidu spoke these comments during an assembly session at the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday about industrial education and other departmental budget requirements.

The Government Released Employment Statistics to the Public

The Chief Minister declared that different sectors of the economy have established new job opportunities. The government reported the following employment figures:

  • MSME sector: 2,48,906 jobs
  • Skill development programs: 1,46,627 jobs
  • Industrial sector: 95,174 jobs
  • Food processing sector: 64,035 jobs
  • Mega DSC and constable recruitment: 30,592 jobs
  • NEDCAP initiatives: 20,393 jobs
  • IT and electronics sector: 13,846 jobs
  • Tourism sector: 5,028 jobs
  • Mines and geology sector: 3,220 jobs

The past governmental policies established by the previous administration resulted in a detrimental state image according to him. He claimed that 913 businesses closed down between 2000 and 2005 which caused educated individuals to relocate to different states looking for work. 

Industrial Development and Policy Measures

  • Naidu explained that the government established multiple initiatives which resulted in increased industrial development. The government established a ministerial committee which Nara Lokesh leads to oversee industrial growth.
  • The government introduced 25 new industrial policies. The government plans to build industrial parks in all 60 constituencies. The government is currently paying back pending incentive payments which the previous government owed to businesses.
  • The Chief Minister announced that the government has given ₹270 crore in back payments to 11,451 SC and ST business owners.

Investment Agreements and Future Projects

  • The government established 613 contracts during the Visakhapatnam Partnership Conference. These projects represent proposed investments of about ₹13.25 lakh crore and are expected to create around 16 lakh jobs.
  • The Chief Minister presented extensive plans for infrastructure development.
  • Developers will construct data centers in Visakhapatnam which will have an cumulative capacity of 5 gigawatts.
  • Visakhapatnam will develop into a center which provides IT solutions and Global Capability Center (GCC) services together with data center operations.
  • Amaravati will become India’s first quantum computer facility and will develop into a quantum knowledge city.
  • Rayalaseema will develop into a central location which focuses on space technology and aerospace defense and drone electronics manufacturing.

Land Policy and Early IT Investments

  • Naidu recounted a past decision which permitted IT companies to acquire land at 99 paise per acre. He explained that although the system created initial doubts it finally achieved successful outcomes.
  • According to him Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) became the first company to start operations in Visakhapatnam through that program. The state attracted other businesses to invest after that point.
  • He added that about 25.6 percent of total investments in the country have come to Andhra Pradesh, showing the state's investment potential.
  • The Chief Minister also announced that the ArcelorMittal steel plant Phase-1, with an investment of ₹69,000 crore, will have its foundation stone laid on the 23rd of this month. The project is expected to create 26,000 jobs. A Google data center project in Visakhapatnam is also expected to begin soon.

Focus on Education and Mother Tongue

  • Naidu said that before 2019 the state ranked among the top positions in the education sector. He claimed that rankings dropped during the previous government’s rule.
  • He emphasized the importance of primary education in the mother tongue. According to him, learning in the native language strengthens cultural identity. He stated that Telugu should remain an important part of the education system in the state.
