Union Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy criticized the Karnataka government for its approach towards industrialists. He was shocked by the remarks of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah about Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murthy. The Murthys had already suggested that they would not be part of the caste census, which they said was their personal right.
Kumaraswamy warned that it is not appropriate for the government to act as if they do not need industrial pioneers. He asked what would happen if Infosys were to shift its business to Andhra Pradesh and suggested that so doing would have a bearing on Karnataka's economy.
Kumaraswamy also indirectly targeted Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. He said that leaders were giving false hopes when Biocon CMD Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw asked whether road repairing works were carried out. Kumaraswamy targeted Shivakumar for not launching new projects and further said that lack of funds was leading to tardy implementation of ongoing development work.
