Investment Opportunities Expanding In Andhra Pradesh

Google's Large Data Centre Project in Visakhapatnam

Google is setting up a large data center in Visakhapatnam, announced Minister Lokesh. The project is the largest foreign direct investment in Indian history. He added the construction of the center and a new sea cable landing station will provide robust opportunities for associated industries to flourish.

At a roadshow arranged by the Australia-India Business Council (AIBC) at New South Wales Parliament in Sydney, the minister encouraged Australian developers of data centers to invest in Visakhapatnam. He further mentioned that the government tracks daily progress on projects by means of 25 WhatsApp groups. The minister further assured that approvals for the biggest steel plant and the ArcelorMittal project in Visakhapatnam were already given and were completed within 15 months.

Australia-India Business Leaders Take Part in Important Meeting

A number of officials were present at the meeting, and they included AIBC National Associate Chair and New South Wales President Irfan Malik, Legislative Assembly Member Warren Kirby, Australian Skills and Training Minister Andrew Giles, and Indian Consulate General in Sydney S. Janakiraman.

Minister Lokesh asserted that Visakhapatnam is emerging as a city which has the essence of both Bangalore and Goa. He added that an investment conference is going to be organized in Visakhapatnam on November 14 and 15, where international investors will be shown the projects of Andhra Pradesh and other states.

Strong Leadership and Job Creation Goals

The minister added that Andhra Pradesh has experienced and able leadership that favors industrial development. He appealed to Australian industrialists to attend the forthcoming partnership conference in Visakhapatnam.

Regarding job creation, when inquired by the media, the minister replied that he had promised in the elections to generate 20 lakh jobs in five years. His visit to Australia is to attract investments in achieving this promise. 

Opportunities for Collaborations Between AP and Australia

Minister Lokesh presented a few sectors where Andhra Pradesh and Australia can partner with each other. They are:

  • Skill development and education
  • Mining and agritech
  • Renewable energy and green molecules
  • Defense and aerospace
  • Compressed biogas and quantum computing
  • Pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing
  • Steel production and aquaculture

He maintained that these collaborations can catalyze sustainable growth and bolster both economies.
