Tragic Accident on Hyderabad–Bengaluru Highway
Hyderabad–Bengaluru private tourist bus was engulfed in flames following a tragic accident at Kurnool district. The accident resulted in casualties, with many passengers stuck inside the bus when it was reduced to ashes. The authorities are probing the reasons behind the accident.
President and Prime Minister Express Condolences
- President Droupadi Murmu was terribly upset by the fatalities in the Kurnool bus accident. She condoled with the grieving families and hoped for speedy recovery of the injured passengers.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi also responded in shock at the accident. He informed that he was disheartened to know about the accident and expressed empathy towards the victim families. The Prime Minister announced compensation of ₹2 lakh to the families of each of the victims who lost their lives and ₹50,000 to the injured under the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.
Vice President and Other Leaders Respond
- Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan condoled the deceased families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured at the earliest.
- Congress legislator Rahul Gandhi referred to the loss of numerous lives as "extremely tragic." In a X tweet, he sent condolences and requested the passengers be secured. He also requested the authorities identify the perpetrators of such accidents and enhance the security of public transport.
