Minister Nara Lokesh directed all the MLAs to stay on the field level in the wake of Cyclone Montha. He told them that they need to stay alert and ready to counter any situation. Lokesh clarified that representatives from every department should coordinate efforts so as to not inconvenience people.
As Cyclone Montha is likely to make landfall along the coast of Kakinada, Lokesh asked public representatives and officials in the area to be very cautious. He also requested coalition party workers to extend relief and rescue relief whenever needed.
Lokesh ordered officials to set up relief camps for people living in coastal settlements and nearby villages. He asked that food, water, and other essentials be kept in readiness. The Minister added the importance of maintaining hygiene and medical care in the affected areas.
The Department of Health was asked to set in motion steps to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Lokesh ordered the ambulances, medicines, and doctors to be on standby to tackle emergencies in a timely fashion.
In order to avoid power failures, Lokesh ordered officials to arrange for stable power supply. He also asked telephone operators to arrange to ensure that communication does not fail during the cyclone.
The Minister suggested pre-filling sandbags to protect dams and low-lying areas from damage. He requested the people to remain cautious and take safety precautions until the threat of cyclones subsides.
