State Government Invites Global Technology Firms
- The IT Minister of Andhra Pradesh Nara Lokesh requested international technology firms to build their operations from Visakhapatnam. His request included the establishment of an IT Development Center and Global Capability Center and Cloud Services and BPM verticals distribution centers for the city. The planned facilities will create approximately 20000 new employment opportunities.
- During a meeting with Capgemini and WNS executives Lokesh made this request. The event occurred at a Visakhapatnam hotel on Thursday. Aiman Ezzat who serves as Capgemini Global CEO joined Sanjay Chake who leads Capgemini India and Keshav Murugesh who heads WNS Global.
- Companies should develop their operations in advanced technology fields according to Lokesh. He recommended that they establish a specialized Quantum technology department. He requested that they work together with top technology companies based in Andhra Pradesh.
- The minister proposed joint efforts to grow services in optimization and financial technology. He also recommended partnerships with local universities. The collaborative efforts between both parties will support the establishment of a Center for Advanced Technological Innovation in Visakhapatnam.
The proposed center will research key sectors which include:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Cloud Computing
- Cybersecurity
- Digital Talent Development
The state government requires funding support for its Quantum Valley initiative which seeks to advance research and technological progress.
Visakhapatnam Emerging as an IT Hub
- According to Lokesh Visakhapatnam is developing into a major IT and data center hub because of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's leadership.
- The construction work for the biggest Google Data Center in the country will start in Visakhapatnam according to his statement. The city currently hosts multiple major technology firms. The firms that operate in the city include Tata Consultancy Services and Cognizant.
- The minister provided information about the ongoing infrastructure projects in the region. The Bhogapuram International Airport will begin operations within three months. The project will enhance international airport access for the city while fostering technology development.
Capgemini Response to the Proposal
- The Andhra Pradesh government submitted proposal documents which Capgemini Global CEO Aiman Ezzat plans to evaluate.
- He explained that Capgemini was founded in Paris in 1967. The company currently employs about 340000 people across the globe. Approximately 200000 of the company’s employees work in India.

Andhra Pradesh IT Secretary Bhaskar Katamneni attended the meeting together with the other officials. The discussion focused on potential technology investments and partnerships that could strengthen Visakhapatnam’s position as a growing IT destination.
