Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi initiated his election campaign for the Bihar Assembly election on Wednesday. He addressed public rallies in Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur districts. RJD leader and INDIA Alliance chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav accompanied him to both rallies.
Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would do anything to gain votes. He referred to a recent incident related to Chhath Puja, claiming that Modi planned to take a bath in the Yamuna River. Rahul alleged that clean water was arranged for Modi despite the pollution in the river, and when the news spread, the event was cancelled.
Rahul Gandhi charged Modi with staging "dramas" for political notice. Gandhi stated that Modi would even act if informed that it would bring votes. Gandhi also forecast that a fresh government would be established in Bihar led by Tejashwi Yadav.
Rahul criticized Modi’s foreign policy approach, saying that he lacked the courage to respond firmly to U.S. President Trump’s remarks about Pakistan. He urged Modi to learn from former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s leadership.
During the same event, Tejashwi Yadav promised that, if the Mahagathbandhan coalition comes to power, his government would provide cooking gas cylinders at ₹500.
