RTC Strike In Telangana Disrupts Transport For Second Day

The ongoing RTC workers' strike has entered its second day which continues to disrupt public transport services throughout Telangana. The ongoing protest has affected daily travel for thousands of passengers, especially in major cities like Hyderabad.

Strike Continues Across the State

The TCL JAC called a strike which began on this day. Workers demand resolution of all outstanding matters. The second day of the strike has resulted in employees missing work which has brought state operations to a standstill.

Bus Services Largely Halted

Most RTC buses remain inside depots because their regular staff members have not shown up for work. The management has introduced hired buses on some routes to minimize service disruption. The current system of service delivery needs better solutions than what exists at present because it lacks complete replacement of standard operations.

Impact on Major Bus Stations

  • Hyderabad's main bus terminals, Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) and Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) have experienced virtually no bus operations from the RTC. Some passengers arrived without knowing about the strike. The passengers waited for an extended period because buses did not leave.
  • Buses from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and Maharashtra continue to operate from MGBS which provides limited travel options to passengers.

Passenger Difficulties Increase

  • Public transport shortages result in severe problems for residents. The RTC bus system serves as the primary transportation option for many commuters. The most affected group consists of government workers private employees students and people who earn daily wages.
  • People now find it difficult to predetermine their travel schedule because the available services do not meet their needs.

Shift Toward Private Transport

In the absence of RTC buses, passengers are turning to auto-rickshaws, taxis, and private operators. This shift has increased travel costs. Reports indicate that some private operators have raised fares, adding to the financial burden on commuters.

Workers Maintain Their Demands

RTC workers have stated that the strike will continue until they receive clear assurances from authorities. They are seeking resolution of their demands and have not indicated a timeline for ending the protest.

Security Measures at Depots

Police personnel have been deployed at RTC depots across Telangana. The presence of security aims to maintain order and prevent any disruptions during the strike period.
