Nara Lokesh explained that a brief virtual meeting established important connection between Andhra Pradesh and a major steel project. He mentioned that he participated in a 30-minute Zoom video conference which took place on September 22 2024 together with Aditya Mittal who serves as ArcelorMittal's chief executive officer.
He explained that the discussion enabled them to build one of India’s largest greenfield steel plants which now operates in the state. He made these remarks during the project’s groundbreaking ceremony.
The project demonstrates how state authorities make decisions at a quick pace according to Lokesh. He described it as an example of improved ease of doing business in Andhra Pradesh.
He also recalled earlier efforts to engage with Aditya Mittal. He attempted to meet him during the Davos event in 2019 but he failed to obtain any time. At a corporate event which Tata Group hosted they later met. During that meeting, Lokesh invited investment into Andhra Pradesh. The company was examining operations in another state during that period. He mentioned that the government started to advance discussions immediately after their 2024 victory.

He described this timeline as a record for large-scale industrial projects in India. The government created departmental cooperation systems which prevented project delays according to him.
The project employs contemporary technological methods to generate top-quality steel products. The system will enhance Anakapalli's industrial status while establishing the area as an international industrial center.
Lokesh added that the Chief Minister played a direct role in resolving challenges. These included coordination with NMDC and approvals for a slurry pipeline. The state government worked with the central authorities, including the Prime Minister’s Office, to complete these processes.
He stated that the project reflects fast governance and strong coordination between state and central leadership. He also emphasized that leadership and trust, referred to as “Brand CBN,” were key factors in attracting the investment.
Inspiration Behind Job Creation Commitment
Lokesh shared a personal experience that influenced his employment goals. During the Yuvagalam Padayatra in Nellore, he spoke with a woman running a small roadside food stall.
She explained that she had raised her children alone after losing her husband and requested job opportunities for them. Lokesh said this interaction motivated his commitment to create two million jobs for young people.
He described the steel plant project as an important step toward fulfilling that promise. He stated that the project represents both economic development and employment generation in the state.
