Sunrisers Hyderabad Plans Complaint Over Match Incident

Dispute Involving Avesh Khan

  • The Sunrisers Hyderabad team has expressed their worries about an event which took place during their match against Lucknow. The franchise is considering an official complaint to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The concern relates to the conduct of Lucknow player Avesh Khan and certain umpiring decisions.
  • The incident occurred on the fifth ball of the final over which Jaydev Unadkat bowled. Rishabh Pant who served as the captain of Lucknow hit the ball toward the long-off boundary. Avesh Khan used his bat to hit the ball back into the field after standing near the dugout when the ball passed him.
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad argues that the ball was still in play at that moment. The team believes that this action should have resulted in penalty runs.

Umpires’ Decision and Team Reaction

The umpires examined the situation but they kept their original decision. The two main points which they observed were

  • No fielder was present near the boundary area
  • The action did not appear to be a deliberate attempt to stop a boundary

The umpires decided to continue the game without giving penalty runs according to this assessment.

Sunrisers Hyderabad remains dissatisfied with this outcome. The franchise believes the decision did not align with the rules.

Additional Concerns Raised by Sunrisers

The team has also pointed out other decisions from recent matches:

  • Heinrich Klaasen’s dismissal in the match against Bangalore
  • Abhishek Sharma’s caught dismissal in the match against Kolkata

Sunrisers has expressed doubt about the accuracy of these decisions.
