Telugu Cultural Center Planned In Amaravati To Promote Telugu Heritage

Government Approves Cultural Center Project

  • The Andhra Pradesh government has approved building a Telugu Cultural Center in Amaravati. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 119.27 crore.
  • The decision occurred during the 59th meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA). Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu led the meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday. The authority approved the proposal as part of the capital development plan.

Land Allocation for Institutions

The CRDA authorized 8.80 acres of land to be distributed among multiple institutions located in the capital region.

The allocations include:

  • 80 cents for the construction of an office for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
  • 3 acres as compensation for land taken from the Tullur Educational Society
  • 5 acres each for APSIRD&PR, a training institute under the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department
  • The authority approved the process of inviting tenders to execute mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) projects. These works are planned for the Secretariat and the Heads of Department (HOD) towers. The work execution budget amounts to Rs. 2,316 crore.

Plans to Develop Amaravati as a Cultural and Tourism Hub

  • The Chief Minister assessed Amaravati construction progress during the meeting. He stated that the capital city should reflect Telugu culture and heritage.
  • He proposed building a tourism project that would cover 167 acres in Neerukonda. The aim is to attract visitors and showcase Telugu traditions, art, and cultural identity.
  • The Chief Minister specifically mentioned that increasing value of cricket matches demonstrates their growing commercial potential. The state needs to develop these projects according to his recommendations.
  • The Amaravati Sports City Master Plan currently prepares its development plans. This initiative intends to develop sports facilities which will subsequently generate economic growth in related sectors.
  • He recommended that they should choose a proper name for the Telugu Cultural Center. He suggested constructing a substantial convention center for the capital to accommodate government functions and public activities.

Decision Process for Land Distribution

  • The Chief Minister ordered officials to investigate again the plan which intended to give Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation 8 acres of land through a 60-year lease agreement.
  • He explained that office requirements do not extend to such extensive land. Government offices should establish their operations from current public facilities, according to his recommendation.

Promoting Business Development in Amaravati

  • The Chief Minister instructed officials to locate companies that want to invest in Amaravati. He said officials should stay in regular contact with potential investors.
  • He also supported the establishment of projects which would finance themselves in the capital city.
  • He showed worry about construction delays during the review process. The officials reported that contractor companies were responsible for the project delays. The Chief Minister required officials to guarantee that the project follows its planned timetable.

Information about the Telugu Cultural Center

The Telugu Cultural Center will be constructed on 5 acres of land in Neerukonda. The facility will serve as a space for cultural activities which include arts and literary events.

The planned activities will include:

  • Art exhibitions
  • Cultural performances
  • National and international cultural events

The building will cover 95,170 square feet. The design will follow a G+1 structure. The Amaravati Growth and Infrastructure Corporation will oversee the development of the project.
