Union Minister Pemmasani Visakhapatnam Should Not Be Compared To Bangalore

Emphasis on Industrial Ecosystem Development

Union Minister Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said that creating a place for industries involves numerous subsidies at the start. He added that subsidies create the required industrial ecosystem.

Once such an ecosystem is established, subsidies will not be necessary, he further added. Discussing the recent setting up of the Google data center in Visakhapatnam, Pemmasani stated that numerous other companies are now interested in investing in the city.

Comparison with Bangalore Not Necessary

The Minister made it clear that Visakhapatnam is not comparable to Bangalore. He explained that Bangalore is already having an industrial and technological maturity, whereas Visakhapatnam is building up one step at a time.

He maintained that the government is endeavoring to position the city as a robust industrial hub with adequate infrastructure and services.

Strengthening Postal and BSNL Services

Pemmasani added that the government is also looking to enhance postal and BSNL services. The objective is to make these services more beneficial to the common public.

He added that the postal department, which is at present suffering from high operational expenses and low revenue, will be given ₹5,000 crore to establish it as a financially viable institution. The strategy is to convert it into a revenue-generating organization in the long run.

Expanding Digital Connectivity

In order to increase digital access, the government is also endeavoring to connect each distant village in the nation with Bharat Net service. Moreover, 20,000 new mobile towers will be installed to enhance BSNL network connectivity.

Pemmasani opined that these efforts are towards making communication more effective, strengthening industrial development, and linking rural areas better.
