BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated that the board has not received any instructions from the ICC regarding the India–Pakistan match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The tournament schedule establishes that the India–Pakistan match will occur on the 15th at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Pakistan has announced that it will boycott the match. Devajit Saikia responded to the situation by stating that the BCCI has not received any notification from the ICC.He shared this update while speaking to reporters after Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the Women’s Premier League title.
Saikia confirmed that the team continues to work on their tasks according to the current international cricket council timetable. He stated that matches will occur in India at five locations which include Kolkata and Mumbai and Delhi and Ahmedabad and Chennai. He mentioned that each location has completed its preparations for the upcoming events.
Saikia confirmed the details of India's opening tournament match. The match between India and the USA will take place on February 7 in Mumbai according to him. He restated that all matches will follow the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 schedule.
Saikia stated that the ICC and the country involved will determine whether Pakistan can compete in the tournament. The BCCI will wait for official confirmation from the ICC before making any additional statements according to him.
