The Indian cricket team achieved a comprehensive victory against South Africa during a T20 World Cup warm-up match on Wednesday. The Indian team secured victory through a 30-run lead which followed their powerful batting display.
India Constructs a Substantial Score
- India achieved a total of 240 runs while losing five wickets. The batters played with aggressive intent throughout the match while maintaining a rapid scoring pace.
- Ishan Kishan scored 53 runs from 20 balls to lead the team. His innings included two fours and seven sixes. Ishan hit two consecutive sixes in one over from Nortje before he hit a four and another six. He later retired out. The other opener, Abhishek Sharma, retired hurt after scoring 24 runs from 18 balls.
- Tilak Varma scored 45 runs off 19 balls to help advance the inning. He hit three fours and three sixes. Several middle-order batters also contributed. Axar Patel scored an unbeaten 35 from 23 balls. Suryakumar Yadav scored 30 runs from 16 balls. Hardik Pandya scored a quick 30 runs from 10 balls.
South Africa Falls Short in the Chase
- South Africa scored 210 runs while losing seven wickets during their batting innings. The team maintained a solid scoring tempo yet they fell short of the necessary scoring speed.
- Stubbs achieved the highest score with 45 runs which he finished from 21 balls. Rickelton scored 44 runs from 21 balls and struck four fours and three sixes. Despite these efforts South Africa could not reach the target.
- Abhishek Sharma contributed with the ball, taking two wickets for India.
