Rajasthan Royals Reportedly Approach Gautam Gambhir For Key Role
  • The Rajasthan Royals have offered Gautam Gambhir a major position at their organization according to reports. Gambhir holds the position of head coach for the Indian national cricket team at present.
  • The franchise has proposed multiple positions which include mentor and CEO and strategic partner. The offer reportedly follows recent changes in the franchise’s shareholding structure. The organization seems unlikely to accept the offer at this time.

National Commitments Remain Priority

  • Gambhir has an active contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) which he needs to fulfill. The contract requires him to serve as head coach until the 2027 ODI World Cup.
  • His current work involves preparing for the 2026 T20 World Cup campaign. India has already advanced to the Super 8 stage of the tournament. The team will start its preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup after the T20 tournament. The current schedule will lead Gambhir to give first priority to his national responsibilities.
  • At this time, he will not return to his IPL responsibilities.

Strong IPL Record as Player and Mentor

  • Gambhir has an established record in the IPL. He played a major role in the success of Kolkata Knight Riders. The team won three IPL titles during his association. He served the team in two roles as captain and one role as mentor.
  • He worked as a mentor for Lucknow Super Giants. The team achieved playoff success for two consecutive seasons under his mentorship and finished third in their league.
  • IPL franchises continue to show interest in him because of his experience and leadership abilities.
