T20 World Cup IndiaPakistan Match To Go Ahead As Scheduled

The T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan will proceed according to its scheduled time. The match will take place in Colombo on Sunday which falls on the 15th day of this month.

Pakistan Withdraws Boycott Decision

  • The Pakistan government announced its match boycott against India on Monday night. The government expressed satisfaction with the results of recent talks. The organization permitted the team to participate because friendly nations requested their assistance.
  • The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) conducted discussions with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the previous three days. The two organizations worked together to fix their problems related to the tournament.

Appeals from Other Cricket Boards

  • The Sri Lanka Cricket Board and the Emirates Cricket Board submitted requests to the PCB asking it to reverse its decision about the boycott. BCB President Aminul Islam confirmed that he personally appealed to Pakistan to play the match against India.
  • The Pakistan government reported that Sri Lankan Prime Minister Anura Kumar telephoned Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the issue.

ICC Rejects PCB Proposal

  • The ICC rejected the PCB's request to create a triangular series that would include Pakistan and India and Bangladesh. The PCB proposed this series as a solution to compensate Bangladesh for its expected financial damages from missing the World Cup.
  • The ICC announced that it will not punish Bangladesh because the country refused to compete in matches that took place in India during the T20 World Cup.
