Amaravati is being worked on as this kind of modern capital city , where investment, innovation, and quality of life actually stay at the center of everything. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu recently shared this whole direction with global leaders and business representatives at the World Cities Summit in Singapore. In that moment he invited Singaporean entrepreneurs to look at Amaravati closely, and to take part in its expansion, by bringing fresh concepts , plus new investments.
While speaking in the “Leadership Plenary-2” session, under the theme “Can Smart Cities Love Humans?”, Chandrababu Naidu talked about how cities should care for people first, but also still welcome technological momentum.
He went back to his earlier push for the information technology sector, more than two decades ago. He said those early tech investments helped open economic chances, and in time supported income growth among Telugu communities . And now, as he explained it, the world is stepping into a new era, led by artificial intelligence and other advanced digital tools.
During the speech he also urged overseas entrepreneurs, especially those from Singapore, to come to Amaravati and join in its development pathway, not just watch from afar
Naidu stressed that the north star for Amaravati is “People First.” The plan, as described, tries to keep economic growth and social comfort moving together, while also protecting environmental sustainability.
As per the vision shared at the summit, Amaravati is intended to be a city recognized for:
The goal is to create this kind of urban environment that kind of backs up both businesses and, uh, everyday communities.
Amaravati is being planned with big, long-term infrastructure projects meant to keep growth going. The city sits along the Krishna River, and it’s set up as a major urban hub, with modern transit options plus civic facilities that feel up to date.
Key infrastructure elements are things like:
As per officials, the idea is that Amaravati will work as a place where connectivity and access feel natural, and the whole design looks contemporary too.
A different part of Amaravati’s story is the way local farmers participate, not just as observers but through a land pooling model.
The Chief Minister says farmers, on a voluntary basis, contributed roughly 35,000 acres of land for the capital project. In exchange, part of the developed land is meant to be given back to them, as plots.
This model is supposed to help landowners get something from future urban development, while also supporting the building of the new capital city.
Sustainability is a big deal in Amaravati’s development plan. The city is being mapped with multiple features designed to improve environmental outcomes, and the general quality of life too.
Some of the proposed items are:
Officials also mentioned Amaravati will have a 21-kilometer waterfront area, which should add a lot to its urban appeal, plus recreation spaces.
During his address Naidu said something like, the growth of Cyberabad is a kind of example showing how putting money into infrastructure investment can turn into real economic value.
He mentioned that land prices in Cyberabad rose quite a lot over time, and this happened as the area moved into being a major technology and business hub. He also hinted that, in a similar way, Amaravati might see comparable growth chances once the infrastructure projects keep moving, and when investments start increasing more steadily.
For the government, the capital project is seen as a stage for job creation , for business expansion, and for the longer term economic development, not just short term results.
Education and technology are considered a core part of Amaravati’s long term vision. There are plans in motion to bring in national and international education institutions , basically more academic organizations to the city.
The main focus areas include
All of these efforts are meant to reinforce Amaravati’s place as a hub for innovation, for nurturing talent, and for knowledge based economic growth , something like the city becomes stronger through ideas and skills.
