Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced plans to generate 160 GW of green energy in Andhra Pradesh. He invited Octopus Energy International, London's largest electricity supplier, to invest in the state's renewable energy sector.
In his meeting with company director Chris Fitzgerald, the Chief Minister reiterated the opportunities available in clean energy, smart grids, and data analytics. He further explained the facilities for power generation available in Amaravati and Visakhapatnam using modern technologies.
Engagement with International Investors
In London, Chandrababu Naidu met with several industrialists and representatives of large companies. Chandrababu invited them to invest in Andhra Pradesh and establish Global Capability Centers.
He has also invited them to attend the Partnership Conference scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam on the 14th and 15th of this month. During these meetings, he explained investment opportunities in sectors including green energy, semiconductors and aviation. He also explained the industrial policies of the state and the incentives offered by the government.
He highlighted that the government adopts an approach of "Speed of Doing Business" rather than just "Ease of Doing Business".
Proposal for GCCs in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati
Chandrababu Naidu met with Rolls-Royce Group CTO Nikki Grady Smith and asked the company to set up Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati.
Similarly, Rolls-Royce, the globally reputed aero engines and diesel propulsion system manufacturer, has been informed about the possible opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. Naidu explained that a military airstrip could be built at Orvakallu itself along with aircraft MRO units, an aviation ecosystem, and an MRO facility at Bhogapuram Airport.
Interest by Shram and Mram Group
Later, Chandrababu Naidu held one-on-one meetings with Shram and Mram Group Chairman Shailesh Hiranandani and Shyam Co Holding Limited Chairman Sampath Kumar Mallaya. He explained the investor-incentive regime of the state and various investment opportunities in battery energy storage.
Later, following the meeting, Shram and Mram Group showed interest in setting up a modern packaging unit for semiconductors in Andhra Pradesh.
