CM Chandrababu Naidu Meets Union Water Resources Minister

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu continued his Delhi visit on Tuesday. He met Union Water Resources Minister C. R. Patil in the morning. The meeting focused on key water-related projects of the state.

Chief Minister received project updates about Polavaram during the meeting. The Chief Minister reviewed current project status which included ongoing work in Andhra Pradesh. He raised concerns about pending funds under the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme. The participants examined two issues which involved postponed central funding for various projects. The meeting addressed disputes which needed to be resolved between different states.

Request to Lift Stop Work Order on Polavaram

Chandrababu Naidu urged the Union Minister to permanently lift the stop work order on the Polavaram project. He said the order was creating repeated obstacles in construction. He requested reimbursement for the increased costs which occurred because the right and left main canals needed to be expanded. He also sought financial support for Polavaram Phase-2 and stated that the project requires additional funds of about ₹32,000 crore.

Polavaram–Nallamalasagar Link Project

The Chief Minister explained that the Polavaram–Nallamalasagar Link project aims to divert surplus Godavari floodwaters to drought-prone regions. The project will help provide drinking water and meet irrigation needs and support industrial development. He requested the Union Minister to grant necessary permissions under the river-linking framework. He also asked for technical and financial assistance for the project.

Inter-State Water Disputes

Chandrababu Naidu appealed for a resolution of long-pending water disputes between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. He stressed the need for a fair and permanent solution through central intervention.
