CM Writes To Azim Premji On Allowing Vehicles From Wipro Campus

Government's Move on Traffic Control

The Karnataka government has moved after heavy traffic criticism in Bengaluru. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wrote to Wipro founder Azim Premji. He sought permission for allowing some vehicles to pass through the Wipro campus in Bengaluru. The CM stated this would decrease congestion on surrounding roads by nearly 30 percent. He further stated that allowing even a few vehicles from the campus could give relief.

Complaints from Commuters and Businesses

Commuters and citizen groups have expressed concerns regarding the Outer Ring Road. The road is a business hub for IT companies, and traffic has been worse over the last few years. Earlier, Rajesh Yabaji, CEO of logistics firm Blackbuck, made a posting on X. He said that traveling to office was quicker earlier, but today employees spend over an hour and a half on the road. He further added that potholes and dust blanket most roads, and there has been no change in the last five years. Blackbuck had to vacate the city due to such conditions. His post evoked stern responses from the leaders and became politically significant.

Orders to Officials on Road Repair

As a response to the criticism, CM Siddaramaiah instructed the officials. He asked them to decongest important city roads and set an one-month deadline for repairing roads. The CM threatened that chief engineers would be held accountable in case the deadline is not achieved. His letter to Azim Premji was also among these bigger steps.
