The NDA alliance has begun its strategy for government formation with a clear victory in the Bihar Assembly. An important meeting of the alliance leaders will be held on Tuesday. Dividing the key ministerial roles, including the Speaker, is one of the main agendas of the meeting. According to reports, the BJP has sought the Speaker post.
According to official sources, both BJP and JDU have strongly pushed their claims for the Speaker post. BJP seems adamant on acquiring the post. During the previous Assembly, BJP's Nandkishore Yadav was the Speaker, and JDU's Narendra Narayan Yadav was the Deputy Speaker. Given this background, BJP is believed to be keen on retaining the post. On the eve of Tuesday's meeting, BJP leaders held late-night deliberations in Patna. Today's high-level talks will be joined by JDU leaders Sanjay Kumar Jha and Lalan Singh.
Both BJP and JDU will hold separate legislative party meetings on November 19. This will be followed by a joint meeting. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has requested Governor Arif Mohammed Khan to dissolve the Assembly to pave the way for a new government. Nitish will meet the Governor again on Wednesday to submit his resignation. He would present letters of support from NDA MLAs too and seek an invitation to form the government. After a nod, Nitish Kumar and other ministers will take oath.
