First Phase Of Bihar Assembly Elections Commences

Voting begins across 18 Districts

The first phase of voting in the Bihar Assembly elections has begun. Voting is taking place across 121 constituencies of 18 districts. There are 1,314 candidates contesting in the first phase. As many as 3.75 crore voters are expected to vote. Authorities have set up 45,341 polling stations to facilitate smooth voting.

Party-Wise Seat Distribution

  • JDU: 57 seats
  • BJP: 48 seats
  • LJP: 14 seats
  • RLM: 2 seats
  • RJD: 73 seats
  • Congress: 24 seats
  • CPI-ML: 14 seats

Apart from them, 119 candidates are contesting from the Jansuraj Party led by Prashant Kishor. Some prominent leaders, including Tejashwi Yadav, BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary, two Deputy Chief Ministers, and 14 ministers, are contesting in this phase.

Appeal to Voters by the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged all electors to participate actively in the elections. He specially urged the first-time voters in Bihar to vote early, conveying the message: “Pehle Matdaan, Phir Jalpan” (Vote first, then refresh yourself).
