Housing Construction Target Set For The Next Three Years

State Targets 17 Lakh New Houses

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu instructed the officials to complete 17 lakh houses in three years. He mentioned that the government should conduct mass housewarming events every three months for the units completed. He instructed the officials to hand over house keys to 5 lakh beneficiaries by the next Ugadi.

Addressing a review meeting on TIDCO housing and the Housing Department, he said the government had promised to build homes for all eligible families. Of the 20 lakh planned houses, more than 3 lakh were already complete. He said the remaining houses should be finished before January 2029.

Additional Financial Support for Muslim Beneficiaries

Chief Minister said that SC, ST, BC and PVTG groups already get additional monetary assistance under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-1.0 scheme by the government. He declared that from now on, even Muslims will get an extra ₹50,000.

He said ₹90 crore will be required to benefit 18,000 Muslim beneficiaries. He instructed the officials to clearly convey the additional support to eligible communities and ensure the benefit is utilized by everyone.

Faster and Error-Free Selection of Beneficiaries

He directed the officials to avoid delays or mistakes in the construction of houses. He said the beneficiary selection survey should be completed fast and lists should be displayed at village level.

He said the land must be allotted to the families without house sites. For those families who say that they already have the land, the officials should provide possession certificates. He also said all housing construction updates must be uploaded online. Pending Payments from Previous Government The Chief Minister said the previous YSRCP government did not clear ₹920 crore owed to beneficiaries who built houses under the NTR Rural Housing Scheme between 2014 and 2019. He asked officials to consult the Central government to resubmit these bills for approval. He also said officials must explain to beneficiaries how the pending payments occurred. He added, the previous government also stopped the NREGA-related payments pertaining to the same period. After discussions with the Center, those bills were cleared. He said the same procedure should be followed to clear the pending NTR Rural Scheme bills.
