IBomma Ravi Faces Additional Legal Charges

New Sections Added to the Case

The police are narrowing the noose around the administrator of the piracy website iBomma, Ravi, whose website has caused a lot of financial losses to the Telugu film industry. Officials had registered charges under IT violations, film piracy, cheating, unauthorized broadcasting of films, and privacy violations. Recently, the added sections were under the Foreigners Act. The police invoke this law when any foreign national commits an offence in this country.

Citizenship and Legal Basis

Police records revealed that Ravi is a citizen of the Caribbean island country of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Following this, the Foreigners Act was added to the case. After the court granted five days of police custody, the Hyderabad Cybercrime Police shifted him from Chanchalguda Jail to the CCS office in Basheerbagh on Thursday.

Initial Interrogation Progress

On the first day of custody, officers questioned him about bank transactions-movement of funds to NRI accounts and crypto wallets. The investigation process will continue for four more days.
