International Fleet Review Held Off Visakhapatnam Coast

The International Fleet Review (IFR) is taking place off the coast of Visakhapatnam. The event features a large naval display. The parade included 71 warships which participated in the event. The six rows of ships extended across the entire sea area.

Dignitaries Attend the Event

  • President Droupadi Murmu attended the fleet review. Justice Abdul Nazeer the Governor of Andhra Pradesh attended the event. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also participated in the event.
  • Naval personnel gave a ceremonial salute to the President. The ceremony marked the formal opening of the review.

Sailing on INS Sumedha

The President and other dignitaries boarded INS Sumedha after the salute. The President sailed with the Governor Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.

Participation of Indian and Foreign Ships

  • The fleet review included ships from several countries. Nineteen foreign naval ships took part in the event. The participating ships included vessels from Russia Australia and the United Arab Emirates together with other nations.
  • From India 45 ships participated. The Indian Navy and Coast Guard and Merchant Navy operated these ships. Seven research vessels also joined the review.
  • The event establishes naval collaboration together with maritime strength through joint activities which occur at sea.
