No Injustice Will Be Done To Farmers Says Minister Narayana

A three-member committee attended the meet convened at the CRDA office following representations from farmers on the problems faced by them in the capital. The committee comprising Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, Municipal Minister Narayana and MLA Tenali Shravan Kumar met at the office. The CRDA Commissioner Kannababu and key officials attended the meet. Representatives of the Ryathu JAC, an association of farmers, took part in the discussion.

The committee reviewed the problems raised by the farmers. Minister Narayana said that the government is committed to ensuring that not a single farmer would experience any inconvenience. He said the farmers who gave land in trust would not be meted with any injustice.

Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar said that development works in the capital were delayed on account of actions by the past government. According to him, the Chief Minister has instructed the committee to sort out pending issues. Pemmasani said the problem of Jaribu lands will be sorted out within 30 days. The CRDA officials will visit the sites and mark the Jaribu lands. The committee would look into issues concerning the village heads as well.

Pemmasani said that the Lanka lands problem was a complex issue. Some cases were filed in the courts by the YSRCP leaders. When the assigned lands were sold by some persons, the previous government also stopped the sales incorrectly. He pointed out the rules pertaining to the assigned lands vary in the capital compared to other areas. He said it might take three months to sort out these issues.

He further said that plot allotments to 90 percent of farmers are complete. The government will provide basic facilities based on population growth over the next 15 years. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared and will be ready in 20 days. Drinking water and drainage construction in capital villages will be completed by next June. The three-member committee will meet again in a week to follow up on progress.
