Phase two of the assembly elections has reached Bihar. As part of the campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting in Sitamarhi. He mounted a severe attack on RJD during his speech. Modi compared his government's development efforts with what he termed as the RJD's promotion of violence. He said, "If we are giving laptops, they are giving revolvers."
Modi said his government was distributing computers, footballs, and hockey sticks among students in Bihar to promote education and sports, whereas the RJD was encouraging the use of guns. He declared that the people of Bihar were not interested in a government that was linked with violence. Modi also said the RJD’s campaign songs and slogans were reflective of what he termed “Jungle Raj.”
He accused the party of encouraging children towards the wrong path and asked whether Bihar's youth should become doctors or criminals.
The Prime Minister also attacked RJD and Congress saying they lacked basic knowledge about industry and development. According to him, their governments in the past have resulted in the shutting of industries rather than building them. He pointed out that during the 15-year rule of RJD, no major hospital or medical college was established in the state.
Modi lauded the work being done in the NDA government headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He said the present dispensation has managed to restore the people's faith and improved Bihar's image among investors. He added that now businessmen are showing interest in investing in the state due to growing confidence.
Appeal to Voters As he concluded, Modi asked the electorate to reject those whom he said disrespect Bihar's culture and traditions. He called upon the people to support a government focusing on education, employment, and development instead of violence.
