Telangana-based Premier Energies announced the setting up of a large solar manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh. The project consists of setting up a 5-gigawatt silicon ingot and 4-gigawatt Topcon solar cell unit. According to Minister Lokesh X, this would involve a total investment of Rs. 5,942 crore.
The new facility will be set up at Naidupeta Industrial Park. It is likely to provide employment to about 3,500 people. The Minister said the project would also promote a supporting solar power ecosystem in the area.
APIIC has allotted 269 acres of land to the company. The state government began its discussions with the company, Premier Energies, in October 2024 and completed the land allotment by February 2025 in what was described as a record timeline.
The reasons for setting up the unit at Naidupeta in Andhra Pradesh by Premier Energies are proximity to the port and investment incentives given by the government. This project has an important role in industrial growth and strengthening the economy of the State.
It also plans to scale up production at the plant to 7 gigawatts in the near future. Minister Lokesh said it is an achievement for Andhra Pradesh to attract the second-biggest solar cell and module manufacturing company of India.
The project will create a number of new green energy jobs for local youth, besides contributing to the state's renewable energy goals. The Minister said it was a matter of pride to welcome Premier Energies and underlined the crucial role such projects would play in achieving sustainable development of industries.
