The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, stated that he considers himself fortunate to be a part of the Sathya Sai Jayanti celebrations that took place in Puttaparthi. He spoke during the centenary event organized to celebrate the life and service of Sathya Sai Baba. Modi pointed out that Sathya Sai Baba lived as a symbol of universal love. He stated that though Baba is no more physically present, his message of compassion continues to guide people.
Modi said, "Sathya Sai Baba's teachings have inspired people all over the country. Millions of devotees are still serving society keeping his ideals in mind." He further said that Sathya Sai Baba's message of "Love everyone, Serve everyone" inspired many to the path of service. Modi added that Baba's guidance transformed many lives and encouraged people to work for welfare of others.
He said that Sathya Sai Baba initiated scores of projects for the welfare of the public in the field of drinking water, healthcare, and education. Modi said Puttaparthi is a spiritually significant place and all institutions inspired by Sathya Sai Baba should continue to spread love and service. Earlier, the Prime Minister released a ₹100 commemorative coin and four postage stamps marking the life and contributions of Sathya Sai Baba. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Minister Lokesh, and other leaders attended the event.
