How to Book Tickets
- Open Google Maps and enter your travel route; for example, Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam.
- It displays distance, travel time, and modes of transport available like bike, car, bus, and train through the General Transit Feed Specification system.
- Tap the bus icon to see all the RTC buses available on that route.
- You will see information like departure time, travel duration, and arrival time.
- Click on a bus service listed below to be taken directly to the RTC website.
- You can complete your ticket booking and make the payment online.
Trial and Implementation
- The officials of the RTC, along with those from Google, tried out this feature on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad route. This was done quite successfully for many days, and it checked that the bookings worked without glitches.
- After the successful trial, RTC provided full data about AC, Super Luxury, and Deluxe bus routes having online reservation facilities. The route data, including bus stops, latitude, and longitude coordinates, has been verified by Google and approved for integration recently.
Availability
Beginning this week, passengers can book an RTC bus ticket on all routes directly from Google Maps. It is aimed at simplifying the travel and movement of commuters who rely on digital aids for booking their bus travel.
