The cyclonic storm that lay severe near the Indonesia Strait of Malacca intensified into a cyclonic storm on Wednesday. The weather department of India has christened it Senyaar. The cyclone moved westwards and crossed the Indonesian coast quickly. It is likely to gain strength till Thursday evening and thereafter, it will weaken. The IMD further explained that it may recurve and move towards Malaysia. The confirmation about Senyaar not affecting India has been confirmed by the officials. The Meteorologists told that the formation of cyclones around the Strait of Malacca is rarely seen. Since 1842, this could be the first time a cyclone has gained strength there.
A severe low-pressure area continues near Sri Lanka in the southwest Bay of Bengal. The IMD said it may gradually move north-northwest and strengthen into a cyclonic storm by Thursday. It is expected to keep moving in this direction and may intensify further by Saturday, approaching the coasts of North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Some weather models suggest it could become a cyclone.

Cold Weather Increases in Agency Areas Cold conditions further intensified in the agency regions. The lowest temperature on Tuesday night was 8.6°C in Araku, Alluri Seetharamaraju district. Other minimum temperatures were around 16°C in Alluri Seetharamaraju, Parvathipuram Manyam, Annamayya, Chittoor, Sri Sathya Sai and Vizianagaram districts. Maximum temperatures in Kalingapatnam, Gannavaram, Kadapa and Arogyavaram were 1 to 2 degrees below normal.
