Vote Counting Progresses Across Telangana
- The vote counting process for municipal elections in Telangana is currently underway. The results are being disclosed to the public one ward at a time. According to the current reports the Congress party holds the lead in most of the municipalities.
- The Congress party has achieved victory in 11 municipalities. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has acquired control of three municipalities.
Municipalities Won by Congress
The following municipalities fell under the control of Congress:
- Nandikonda
- Ashwaraopet
- Haliya
- Nereducherla
- Dornakal
- Sultanabad
- Maripeda
- Manthani
- Dharmapuri
- Bheemingal
- Huzurnagar
The current results show that these municipalities have changed their support to Congress.
Municipalities Won by BRS
BRS won the following municipalities:
- Gaddapotharam
- Aija
- Thorrur
Hung Results in Two Municipalities
Two municipalities have not produced a clear majority.
Kohir Municipality – Sangareddy District
- Total wards: 16
- Congress: 8 seats
- BRS: 5 seats
- BJP: 1 seat
- MIM: 1 seat
- Independent candidate: 1 seat
No single party has secured a clear majority.
Devarakadra – Mahabubnagar District
- Total wards: 12
- Congress: 6 seats
- BRS: 4 seats
- BJP: 1 seat
- Others: 1 seat
Here as well, no party has achieved a decisive lead.
Notable Individual Victories
- TDP candidate Bodepudi Revathi won the election in Madhira 10th ward of Khammam district. She defeated BRS candidate Pedapudi Sudhakar.
- In Chityala Ward 1, independent candidate Nagilla Sudhakar won by a margin of 102 votes. He is a transgender candidate.
- The Congress party won the wards 24 and 26 elections in Ramayampet Municipality of Sangareddy district. The candidates are husband and wife.
