Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that a workshop with MLAs and MPs would be conducted next month, in order to concentrate on 'good governance'. According to him, training programmes would be launched to develop administrative competence among officials. People’s satisfaction increases when governance remains efficient and public services reach communities effectively. Accountability should be the guiding principle behind the implementation of government schemes and civil services, he said. Capacity-building programmes would be conducted in all the 175 constituencies for this purpose.
A review meeting was held at the Real Time Governance Center in the Secretariat on Monday. The Chief Minister gave several key instructions during the meeting.
The Chief Minister asked the government departments to enhance the quality of civil services. Ministers and public representatives should visit field locations and solve public complaints on the spot. He suggested that the departments adopt technology and build up operational capacity.
He also ordered the officials to ensure positive field-level outcomes. The government is addressing issues relating to maize, cotton, banana crops, and also ensuring a reasonable price for farmers. He added that all work should follow the priority order while considering financial and nonfinancial factors.
Planning should be supported by continued data-driven decision-making. Municipal corporations and municipal associations can undertake the commencement of works only after public approval. Similarly, in rural areas, no project should be undertaken without gram sabha permission. The same rule should apply to NREGA works.
The authorities should, therefore, enlighten the citizens in utilizing the Aware app, which gives continuous updates concerning 42 types of information including weather alerts. All departments must integrate their data with the state data lake. The Chief Minister instructed the teams to enhance the bandwidth connectivity in remote areas. Drinking water, cleanliness and other essential services in welfare hostels should be monitored continuously. Officials informed the Chief Minister that a special app has been developed for this purpose, and daily checks are already underway. He suggested studying services provided to devotees during Thithide in Tirumala—such as crowd management and security—and applying similar practices in other temples.
