Sanju Will Always Be Sanju Indian Batting Coach

Sanju Samson who serves as India's wicketkeeper-batsman currently experiences difficulties with his batting performance. His batting performance during the current T20 series against New Zealand has resulted in only 40 runs from four innings. India will compete in their last match before the T20 World Cup at the fifth T20 match which takes place in Thiruvananthapuram.

Batting Coach Backs Sanju Samson

  • Indian batting coach Sitanshu Kotak responded to questions about Sanju Samson's performance before the match. He showed confidence in the player and played down concerns over recent performances.
  • Sanju Samson maintains his playing style from previous times according to Kotak. He explained that form changes are a normal part of cricket. According to him, some phases bring consistent scores, while others bring failures. He stressed that mental strength plays a key role during such periods.
  • Kotak added that the team needs to assist Sanju in maintaining his positive mental state. He also emphasized that practice and hard work serve as vital elements for success. He stated that Sanju's ability and talent are well known and that there is no doubt about his quality as a player.

Recent Numbers and Selection Pressure

  • Sanju Samson's highest score in his last five T20 innings is 37 which came against South Africa in December last year. His performance as an opener has resulted in 128 runs from his last ten innings while he maintains a batting average of 12.8.
  • The competition for places has intensified because Tilak Varma is expected to return to the T20 World Cup squad after completing his surgery recovery. Ishan Kishan is also in contention. Sanju Samson must now handle the pressure which requires him to perform well during the T20 match that will take place in Thiruvananthapuram.
