- Sanju Samson's highest score in his last five T20 innings is 37 which came against South Africa in December last year. His performance as an opener has resulted in 128 runs from his last ten innings while he maintains a batting average of 12.8.
- The competition for places has intensified because Tilak Varma is expected to return to the T20 World Cup squad after completing his surgery recovery. Ishan Kishan is also in contention.
